All lessons are conducted online for the convenience of students and their parents. All AMEB musicianship and music theory exams grades 1 to 6 are conducted online so the student is not tied to a particular exam period. The exam can be done from home at anytime during the year.
Lessons are conducted on a one on one basis as some students are able to progress at a faster pace than others due to their age, ability and music education. It also means that the time spent on each part of the course is personalised to the student’s ability. Students receive constant feedback on their progress.
Lessons are conducted weekly by zoom video call.
A new link is sent each week as a reminder.
Students must be seated at a desk in a quiet place with no distractions and be ready for their lesson with their work book, pencil, eraser and highlighter on the desk. Their camera should be on and they should be ready to participate actively in their lesson as each lesson commences with a series of revision questions.
Homework will be set and must be completed and emailed for marking no less than 24 hours prior to the next lesson to give us time to assess and prepare feedback. This is particularly the case with grades 5 and 6.
Requirements
Before the first lesson
If the student has sat a musicianship or music theory exam, you will be asked to email their exam feedback report to us before the first lesson. If the student has completed a prior musicianship or music theory course but not sat the exam, you will be sent a mock exam paper for the student to complete and return before their first lesson.
Casual lessons
A student may require casual lessons, for example help on a particular aspect of the course or a few revision lessons before sitting an exam.
If a student wants a casual lesson, you will be sent a mock exam paper or questions on the specific part of the course the student wants help with for the student to complete and return before the first lesson.
Students having casual lessons for exam revision are expected to complete the AMEB online practice exam papers and provide their exam key and PIN to us at least 24 hours prior to their next lesson so we have time to assess and prepare feedback.
